VALLETTA, 3 March 2022 – The Abdulaziz Saud AlBabtain Cultural Foundation has opened the second World Forum for the Culture of Peace in Malta. The two‑day forum, held under the theme “Leadership for Just Peace”, is under the patronage of the President of Malta, George Vella, who chaired the opening session.
Guests include the President of Albania, Ilir Meta, the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, and the Speaker of Kuwait’s National Assembly, Marzouq Al‑Ghanem, alongside parliament speakers, ministers and leaders of international organisations. The Secretary‑General of the United Nations, António Guterres, addressed the forum by video message.
The forum closed with four proposals: a committee of leaders and thinkers to protect world cultural heritage damaged by war; support for dialogue and mediation to end conflict; teaching the culture of peace at every stage of education, from kindergarten to university; and a Global Platform for Just Peace to train future leaders.
The forum follows the Foundation’s agreement with the University of Malta in November 2021 to establish the Abdulaziz Saud AlBabtain Peace Chair.
